AGUDAS ISRAEL OF AMERICA HOLDS THIRD CONVENTION IN BALTIMORE, MD.

The Agudas Israel of American will hold its third annual convention from August 21 to 25 in Baltimore, with more than thirty-three delegates from various parts of the country expected in attendance. This organization is the American branch of the Aguda World Organization, a movement of Orthodox Jewry. Although the American branch, of which Rabbi Eliezer Silver of Cincinnati is the president, has been in existence no more than three years, the Agudas Israel youth movement in this country has been in existence more than fifteen years. The convention will devote itself specifically to problems dealing with the strengthening of religious observance among the Jewish masses in America.

The parley will be opened with a session of special prayer in behalf of Jewry in distress. A memorial service will be conducted for members of the Jewish people who have perished as the result of World War II.

Among the prominent guests in attendance will be Jacob Rosenheim, president of the Aguda World Organization; and rabbis from the United States and Canada will participate in the deliberations. Rabbi Simon Schwab heads the arrangements committee.
